Not long time agao,NVIDIA officially launched the first products which based on GF104 core- Geforce GTX 460.This product has good performance and power performance, it can be seen a singal of NVIDIA counterattack Radeon HD 5000 series.

Weve reported that NVIDIA is going to launch the Dual core GF104, The main rival of the product will be AMD dual-core Radeon HD 5970, It will most likely be named "Geforce GTX 490".Although we do not know NVIDIA how to use GF104 to make this product,, but according to the information currently available and performance of GTX460,We can speculate that NVIDIA will launch this product through following two methods:

"Geforce GTX 490" will be main rival of Radeon HD 5970

The first scenario:use GF104 core of GTX460, compose of 336 × 2 CUDA core specifications, graphics memory should use GDDR5 memory and form 1GB × 2 / 256bit × 2 memory specifications.Because its main rival is HD 5970, while HD5970 composed by two low-frequency HD5870 core , Base on GTX460 current performance, It can not compete with low-frequency HD5870, so NVIDIA might be increase frequency of GTX 460.

The second option:use complete GF104 core to make this card.Because complete GF104 has 384 CUDA core, if adopt this solution , then the dual-core products will have 384 × 2 CUDA cores, and graphics memory may be same with the first option.But NVIDIA might consider limiting power consumption and will led to the frequency of this product will not be too high.

Of course the above two options are only our speculate and we will not know NVIDIA how to do.But since GTX460 has been released, So we will have chance to simulated the first option.We believe that before NVIDIA launch the really Dual-core "GTX490" ,We use GTX460 to simulate this product still have some significance, because we can compare with HD 5970 and further guess NVIDIA will use which options to compete with HD 5970.

So how do we simulate the test?Its easy,we will use SLI GTX460 graphics cards to do this test.

Of course, we want emphasize that simulate is just simulate,This can not represent the real "Geforce GTX 490" performance, and not to mention we do not yet know the specific specifications of this product.However,Through this test we guess the idea of NVIDIA launch this product, we can use the test for reference.
