Intel played their tick - tock strategy for a few years and it looks like they won’t be able to launch this part in Q4 2010 and make it in year 2010. We are sure Intel will tell us that the production starts in Q4 2010 but the availability will happen in Q1 2011.

Sandy Bridge is a new architecture, a step after Nehalem / Lynnfield / Clarkdale generation and it should bring more integration between graphics and CPU and generally make things faster.

Its in 32nm and you can expect a new graphics core as well as Turbo overclocking and continuation of the quite useless hyperthreading strategy. We can only hope that Intel will hire some people from Switzerland who are capable of fixing the broken tick - tock but kudos to Intel for being on time since summer 2006.

Have any web designers around you broken into spontaneous song and dance? The latest post on Googles Enterprise Blog may be responsible. In it, the search giant has announced that it will start dropping support for Internet Explorer 6.0 as of March 1, 2010.

The change will begin with Google Docs and Google Sites, and it will force IE6 users to upgrade. "You may find that from March 1 key functionality within these products -- as well as new Docs and Sites features -- won’t work properly in older browsers," the blog post warns. Users are encouraged either to step up to a newer version of Microsofts browser or to ditch IE entirely and start using Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Apples Safari.

Last November, the rumor mill pinned a May launch time frame on AMDs Leo desktop platform, which should bring a new chipset and support for six-core Thuban processors. Now, DigiTimes writes that the first Thuban CPUs will also see the light of day that same month.

We can reportedly look forward to three Thuban variants at launch: the Phenom II X6 1035T, Phenom II X6 1055T, and Phenom II X6 1075T. DigiTimes doesnt quote clock speeds or specifications beyond the fact that the chips will be based on 45-nm process technology. According to some older coverage, however, Thuban will support DDR3 memory and work in existing Socket AM3 and AM2+ motherboards.

Apple managed to created a lot of discussion with its new tablet, and even if  iPad isnt without drawbacks, Apple has the ability to create buzz for less. We know that companies like Microsoft, HP, ASUS and MSI are all working on their own solutions and we can count more to make an attempt. Now it looks like graphics circuit maker NVIDIA is the key to whipping Apple and iPad.

We are of course referring to NVIDIAs Tegra 2 SoC (System-on-a-chip) that was presented in detail during CES earlier this month. Tegra 2 looks to become one of the most powerful SoC available as NVIDIA paired two ARM Cortex A9 processor cores with dedicated circuits for picture, video and audio signals. And of course, a dedicated graphics circuit, made by NVIDIA.
